Zhubao® Bamboo

CONSTRUCTION
Three layer, laminated, all bamboo, tongue and groove plank 24 or 36 inches long by 3 5/8 inches wide by 5/8 inch thick, pre-finished with 3 coats of 100 % solids UV cured acrylic urethane.

FLAMMABILITY
When tested according to ASTM E648 Critical Radiant Panel Test. Passes with a CLASS 1 rating per NFPA “Life Safety Code”. (Can be used in all classes of buildings.)

SMOKE DENSITY
When tested according to ASTM E622 pass = 450 or less, passes with 269 flaming mode and 329 non-flaming mode.

ABRASION RESISTANCE
When tested according to ASTM C501 (H-22 Calibrade wheels loaded with 1000 gram weight at 70 RPM for 1000 cycles) weight loss = .349 grams = .012 ounces.

INDENTATION RESISTANCE
When tested according to ASTM 1037 (Janka Ball Hardness) showed an average hardness of 1640. (27% harder than Northern Red Oak and 13% harder than Hard Maple for this particular bamboo flooring/panel.)

DIMENSIONAL STABILITY
When tested according to standard method for wood flooring showed a dimensional change coefficient of .00144 better than any hardwood except mesquite.

SLIP RESISTANCE
When tested according to ASTM D2047 = results 0.71 coefficient of friction. Rated as slip resistant per the “Americans with Disabilities Act.”

COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH
When tested according to ASTM 3501-86A = results
(A) Parallel to Grain = 7,549 PSI
(B) Perpendicular to Grain = 2,566 PSI
(C) Flatwise = 16,925 PSI at 50% Strain
(Load to compress to 1/2 thickness)

BENDING ELASTICITY MODULUS
943,443 PSI

SHEAR STRENGTH
When tested according to BRITISH STANDARD #373 result = Parallel to Grain 1365 PSI

TENSILE STRENGTH
When tested according to ASTM D3500-90 A result = Parallel to Grain 15,290 PSI

Notes on Adhesives
The adhesives used in the manufacturing process of bamboo flooring/paneling is a Boren product. It is an urea formaldehyde. The manufacturer is careful to ensure the product conforms to the HUD’s indoor air quality standard. HUD’s standard is .34 ppm limit for emissions, our product emits .10 ppm after installation and varnishing which is well within their required safety limit.
